About the Film
The crime series follows a team of experienced detectives from České Budějovice as they investigate various crimes across the entire South Bohemia region—from urban settings to rural areas and tourist spots. The focus is not only on the cases and police procedures but also on the private lives of the main characters and their relationships. The opening episode revolves around the ritual murder of a young girl after a solstice celebration at a Celtic oppidum; other episodes deal with kidnappings, murders, cases involving entrepreneurs, tourism, or the local underworld. The series builds on previous projects “Crime Scene Plzeň” and “Crime Scene Ostrava,” but moves the setting to South Bohemia, which plays a significant visual role.
Trivia
Filmmakers of the Crime Scene series usually draw from real criminal cases in the regions where each episode is set. It’s interesting that South Bohemia is one of the safer regions with relatively low crime rates, so creators often use cases from other regions or fictionally combine them and set them in South Bohemia.
