Vimperk is a historic, mysterious and undiscovered Šumava town with qualities and tourist
attractions of the 21st century. It combines the present with the past, traditional industries with new possibilities, cultural monuments and history with contemporary topics such as ecology or sustainable tourism.

An unusually well-preserved historic center with a sloping square with Art Nouveau-style houses, the Gothic Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, the Baroque building of the old town hall with Gothic cellars and the late Gothic town bell tower, all this is offered by the city, whose narrowest center was "preserved" for its time under the former regime typical reconstructions. In addition to its jewel, the Vimperk State Castle, the city offers the tranquility of small patches, winding streets, staircases and courtyards complemented by the tranquility of Pivovarské terraces, an arboretum of forest plants, a city park, locations around the city fortifications or the former castle grounds. At the same time, it also offers an interesting look into the industrial history of the city in the form of brownfields, whether owned by the city or the private sector, see the former buildings of printers, woodworking and textile industries or the area of the former U Sloupů barracks.
And the indisputable advantage of the city is its location on the borders of the Šumava Protected Landscape Area, the facilities of the Vodník Leisure and Relaxation Area, quality accommodation and gastronomic services, as well as the presence of several theater and fencing associations with a rich costume fund and many festival and film experiences.
The city is also an interesting destination in terms of sacred tourism thanks to the remains of the city's patron saint Innocence, which is located in a glazed tomb from 1768 in the exhibition of the Museum of Vimperk at the Vimperk State Castle.
