South Bohemia on the silver screen: Houpačky had its gala pre-premiere in Prague

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the gala pre-premiere of director Bohdan Sláma’s new film Houpačky took place at the Lucerna cinema in Prague. Representatives of the South Bohemia Film Office and the South Bohemian Region, which financially supported the creation of the film, were also present for the occasion.
This bittersweet story of friendship, courage, and new beginnings brings two prominent acting figures to the screen – Dagmar Havlová Veškrnová and Zuzana Kronerová. Inspired by Lucie Konečná’s novel of the same name, the film tells the story of two different women whose unexpected meeting gradually transforms both of their lives. Other roles feature Tereza Ramba, Jiří Lábus, and Alena Mihulová.
South Bohemia as part of the cinematic story
A significant part of the film was shot in South Bohemia, primarily in Blatná and the area around Bořice in the Strakonice district. Director Bohdan Sláma has a personal connection to this region, and the South Bohemian landscape thus forms a natural part of the film’s narrative.
The gala pre-premiere was an opportunity not only for the first viewing of the finished film but also for a personal meeting with the film production representatives. On behalf of the South Bohemia Film Office, we can say that we were thrilled by the film. It sensitively connects humor with more serious life themes and offers a story that can entertain, move, and provoke thought.
We thank the creators for the invitation to the pre-premiere and for choosing South Bohemia for the filming.
The film Houpačky enters Czech cinemas on November 5, 2026.
